TCCHS students donate blood

Thomas County Central High School held a blood drive on Tuesday, Aug. 25. Approximately 92 students participated.

“I feel normal physically, but emotionally I feel like a great person being able to help out others in need,” 11th grader Tireshia Anderson said of her donation.

Buses from OneBlood, the area donation center, spent most of the day on campus. Students received specific appointment times to donate.

OneBlood officials check to make sure students meet donation requirements, paperwork is signed, and blood is given. Students receive a drink and snack after donating, which they eat before returning to class.

“I’ve always wanted to give blood but I’ve never been able to until this year,” junior Ally Sealy said. “I was so excited when I found out that I could because I’m saving people’s lives.”
