TCCHS students place second at RESA Media Festival

Two students from Thomas County Central High School placed in the Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) Media Festival. Paul Edwards and Richard Lewis placed second in the high school division.

“Our project was a short video game about a coming to age story of a young character named Hero,” Paul Edwards said. “Hero has…many struggles with childhood stories of ancient guardians and dragons that he must overcome to protect his homeland.”

This boy is the very definition of a knight, according to Richard Lewis.

The media festival is for grades K-12 and is limited to three entries per school. Thomas County Central High School competed against students from Bainbridge, Lee County, and Pelham.

“RESA holds a media festival for students in our area to showcase projects they have created using technology,” Erin Rehberg, instructional technology coordination for Thomas County Schools, said. “We wanted to give our students a chance to show their work and compete against other students from our area with their projects.”

This year was the third year of the RESA Media Festival and the third year for TCCHS competing. The high school had five students attend: Kennedy Ward, Sierra Stephens, Paul Edwards, Richard Lewis and Kyle Clark.

The experience for the students was very educational.

“Through this experience our project has shown its potential, so we feel more confident,” Lewis said. “We learned what our possibilities were and what we could do to improve."
