Showcasing Jacket “Pride”

Thomas County Central High School wants to share positive education news with its community.

Teacher Ryan Strickland is coordinating a new announcement system during home football games. These “Jacket Point of Pride” announcements will showcase the many accomplishments of TCCHS students, clubs, staff, and teams.

“Central has many things to be proud of academically, athletically, and in other extracurricular activities,” Strickland said. “We also have a lot of support from our community. The ‘Point of Pride’ announcements allow for these accomplishments to be recognized in front of our community on Friday nights and during other events throughout the year. Sometimes these types of accomplishments are not known outside of the school setting and are worthy of recognition. We want our community to share in these accomplishments.”

Examples of announcements may include club events, student awards, and other sports or academic success throughout the Yellow Jacket community.

“I think that the announcements will be amazing,” student Shivani Patel said. “The kids and clubs who usually don’t get the spotlight shone on them, like the golf or tennis team, now have a chance to be noticed on a broader scale.”

To participate, there is a Google form shared with faculty prior to each home game. For more information or to submit an announcement, contact the school’s front office at (229) 225-5050 or any faculty member.
