TCCHS is prepping for prom

Story by Cynthia Ramons, student reporter

Preparations for an anticipated annual event are in motion, and sponsors want all participants to be ready for an unforgettable evening.

Thomas County Central High School’s 2018 prom is Saturday, March 17. The “Roaring 20s” themed event will be held at the Old Central High School Gym from 8 to 11:30 p.m.

Everyone must bring either a valid driver’s license or school I.D. to be admitted to the gym. Keepsake invitations will be distributed as ticket dues are paid.

"Invitations are not needed to enter the prom, but we will be checking I.D.,” prom sponsor Christine Patton said.

The Senior Walk will begin at 7 p.m.; family and guests are welcome. Prom king and queen will be announced at 10 p.m.

Tickets are free to all seniors who paid last year and underclassmen who are accompanying these seniors. It is $25 per ticket for all other juniors and seniors and their guests. Pay with cash at the school’s media center or with credit or debit with bookkeeper Jackie Dixon.

March 9 is the last day to buy tickets; an additional $15 will be charged for any tickets bought after the deadline. Tickets will not be sold at the door. To pay online, go to mypaymentsplus.com, where tickets are only $20 each.

"To offset costs, we had to raise prices a little this year,” Patton said. “Students should take advantage of the online discount to save money."

The deadline to submit an approval form to bring a date who is not a current TCCHS student was Friday, Feb. 9. Rulings on these applications will be handed out Feb. 16. No students from Thomas County Middle School or persons who are more than 20 years old are allowed to attend prom.

Dress code is still mandatory for prom. No dresses should be low cut, have high slits, or show a bare midriff. To check for dress approval, ask a prom sponsor or a female administrator.
