TCCHS holds holiday food drive

Thomas County Food Bank volunteers Wayne Adams and Maurice Chastain with TCCHS holiday canned food drive cosponsors Leigh Barwick, Kensey D’Souza and Laura Parkerson.

Thomas County Central High School held a holiday canned food drive Nov. 5-16. With the aftermath of Hurricane Michael and the holidays almost here, the local food bank is in need of nonperishable food items, drive cosponsor and TCCHS teacher Leigh Barwick explains. Donations were collected in first period classes. The drive’s goal was at least three canned food items per individual. The items will go to Thomas County Food Bank, located across the street from First United Methodist Church in downtown Thomasville. Food bank representatives brought a truck to TCCHS Friday, Nov. 16 to pick up the donations. Approximately 1,500 items were donated.
