Class of 2016 Receives Rings

Juniors at Thomas County Central High School can officially be called the Class of 2016. A ring ceremony was held Thursday, August 21, in the TCCHS gym for the Junior class. “I was glad to speak on behalf of the 2016 class,” said Junior Class President Mason Lawing. “I hope everyone enjoyed getting their ring as much as I did.” Students and their parents were called one by one to receive their rings. Parents were given the rings, and they placed it on their child’s finger. “It was a sentimental and cool experience,” said TCCHS student Abby Hurst. “I loved that my parents were able to give it to me and put it on my finger.” Students order their rings during their sophomore year and it is given to them at the beginning of their junior year.  “We are so pleased to continue our tradition of high school class rings and to host a ceremony where we celebrate that tradition with students and their family members,” said Ms. Trista Jones, TCCHS principal. Students were excited to be able to start off the year with such a memorable ceremony. The ring ceremony makes their high school career even more special. “The ring ceremony is just one more thing to add to my high school memories,” junior Shelby Howard said.
