NHS Induction

NHS Induction

A group of hard working students at Thomas County Central High School entered the ranks of a national academic organization on September 22.

TCCHS held its annual National Honor Society Induction ceremony Monday in the school’s gymnasium.

“I’m proud to be recognized for my accomplishments and hard work,” Kacy Jones, NHS inductee, said.

Requirements to be approved for NHS include a 3.7 GPA and good behavior leading up to the nominee’s junior or senior year.

The National Honor Society was founded in 1921 to recognize and encourage academic achievement while developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy, according to the induction program. It provides its members the opportunity to share their talents with other students, their school and their community.

“I feel like it would help me into the college of my dreams and it’s nice to be awarded for my hard work,” said inductee Laken Rutland.

Inductee Olivia Hightower thought the induction ceremony was good.

“The band played great and everyone looked nice,” she said. “My favorite part was seeing all of my hard work, along with my friends’, pay off.”
