All A Lunch

All A Lunch

A group of honor students received recognition for their hard work with a special trip to celebrate their accomplishments.

First nine weeks all A students from Thomas Country Central High School, who received permission, participated in an “All A Lunch” on Oct. 31.

“All A lunch is my favorite field trip because we are able to take some very good students off campus,” Dr. Rehberg, director of gifted/accelerated instruction, said. “It’s nice to be able to get away from school for a few hours to celebrate a job well done.”

Students that make all As each nine weeks are in turn rewarded with an opportunity to attend an “All A Lunch.” Students are bussed to different areas in Thomasville and are able to enjoy lunch amongst their friends. This year, students were taken to downtown Thomasville.

“This past trip we had beautiful weather and were able to invite about 90 students who had received all As,” Dr. Rehberg said. “I think everyone really enjoyed themselves.”

Students had two hours to eat and could choose any restaurant within walking distance. The most popular restaurants with the students included The Scoop, Moon Spin, George and Louis, and Old Mexico.

“I decided to eat at The Scoop with my friends so we could talk and eat ice cream,” student Hannah Dixon said.

Since started, the lunch has motivated students to work for higher grades.

“I work hard to make all As and feel that anyone capable of good grades deserves a fun reward,” participant Haley Newman said. “I think All A Lunch was a big reward.”

Students who attended were thankful for the opportunity.

“I was expecting way less than what I got,” student Lexi Jones said. “I was extremely thankful to have had the opportunity. I’m looking forward to it next nine weeks.

Students can take part in these incentive lunches by making all A’s in any of the three remaining nine weeks.

“When I told my parents about it, it made them more determined to help me get all As,” junior Zack Johnson said. “I mean, who wouldn’t want to get out of school to eat with your friends?”
