TCCHS Hosts Career Fair

Thomas County Central High school held its Career Fair on Oct. 28.

The Career Fair is designed to educate students on the skills and education required for their career of interest. The fair was held in the gymnasium; juniors and seniors could attend. The theme for this year’s fair was “Green Light- Careers on the Go.”

“The Career Fair is a great way to help students focus on the future,” PREP Academy director Ms. Beth Adams said. “We want students to know that career success starts with having a solid plan. That plan should begin while students are still in high school.”

Throughout the gymnasium stations were set up with more than 55 different career choices. These include careers in several fields including medicine, cosmetology, public service and the military.

“We love the fact the school hosts Career Fair for students to make them aware of the different businesses and network potential that’s in the local areas,” vendor Georgia Department of Labor’s Dr. Cynthia Drayton said.

TCCHS Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator Ms. Michelle Ausley felt the fair “was a great success.”

“We had a very good outcome of new business come from all around,” she said.

While students were browsing around the fair they were given a pamphlet which had questions for them to consider asking at the different stations and what might interest them in a career.

“Attending Career Fair helped me realize high school is going to be over before you know it so I need to have a guideline about what I would like to do when I grow up,” student Carlton Ogletree said.
