Thomas County Middle School fifth grade students recently attended an in-class field trip facilitated by Georgia Power. Students were able to explore electricity, conductors, and insulators with Ms. James from Georgia Power, and completed many hands-on activities that helped students understand how electricity flows through a circuit.

Pictured below in the first picture is Mrs. Sharpe's class holding hands with Ms. James from Georgia Power to create a closed circuit with an energy stick. When the circuit is complete (creating a closed circuit) the energy stick would flash.

Pictured below in the second picture from left to right are Spencer Watson, Amerys Lewis, and Hannah Brown testing various materials to determine if the object was a conductor or an insulator.
