Students Enjoy Trip to Kennedy Space Center

Recently students from Thomas County Upper Elementary participated in an overnight adventure to Kennedy Space Center.  Thirty-six 5th grade MERIT students had the opportunity to spend the night under the historic Atlantis Space Shuttle.  Astronaut James F. Reilly visited with the students and told of his experience aboard missions STS-89, STS-104, and STS-117.  Students participated in constructing and launching their own rockets.  They experienced a shuttle launch simulation, visited the rocket garden and toured the Saturn V exhibit.  They also viewed the launch pad used to launch the shuttles.
