Georgia’s waiver of NCLB

As of March 30, 2012, Georgia was one of only 10 states to have been granted a waiver from No Child Left Behind (NCLB). No longer will Georgia be bound by the narrow definitions of success found in NCLB. The waiver enables the state to hold schools accountable and reward them for the work they do in all subjects and with all students. In order for Georgia to receive this waiver, it was required to implement a system for rating schools based on a variety of performance indicators. Beginning next school year, Georgia will begin using the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) for state accountability purposes.
