2018 Teacher of The Year

Bass and Wilson

Stephanie Bass, shown with Principal, Sharonda Wilson, is Garrison-
Pilcher’s Teacher of the Year. Ms. Bass has been a teacher for eleven
years with Thomas County Schools, all of those years employed at
Garrison-Pilcher Elementary.

“I love working at GP and with my co-workers in Pod C… they are both the
place for me. What I love most about my classroom is whom I share it
with,” said first grade teacher Bass.

The Teacher of the Year (TOTY) is nominated by, and voted on, by
Garrison-Pilcher’s faculty. Three finalists are interviewed by former
recipients of this award and the final nomination is awarded to the top
choice.

Principal Wilson stated, “Mrs. Bass is a teacher who goes above and
beyond to meet the needs of her students.  She has a love and a heart for
teaching all students, especially students who may need a little more
encouragement and motivation.  She lets her students know that they can
accomplish anything. She believes in all of her students, and she works
very well with parents.  Mrs. Bass' classroom instruction demonstrates her
belief in reaching and teaching students where they are and building them
up to be amazing learners”.

Bass graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in Early
Childhood. She lives in Cairo with husband, Greg, and three daughters:
Natalie, Olivia, and Layla.
