Delaney Named to All-Star Team

Thomas County Central High School Sophomore Eric Delaney was selected to the 2012 DiVarsity.com Georgia State All-Star Game this year. Scoring 13 goals and adding 1 assist this season, Eric was the leading scorer for the Men’s Soccer Team, as well as a team captain. Eric’s love for the game is shown by his effort on the field. “I just love being around soccer”, Delaney said. “To be selected as an All-Star is very exciting and I’m looking forward to contributing to the game in Atlanta.” When asked about his reflections on the 2012 season, Delaney said, “We were a very young team this year, and unfortunately our inexperience showed at the end of the season when the pressure was on. But we will have most of our players back next year, so I am very excited about the possibilities for us in 2013.”

Head Coach Jonathan Tarin was asked to give his thoughts on the achievements of arguably one of his best players this season. “I am so proud of Eric. He has been through a lot personally this year, but through his hard work, desire to win, and steady play, he has accomplished a fantastic goal. But despite the goals he’s scored and the contributions to his team, the attribute that stands out the most to me is his character, and that is what will help propel him to the next level.”
