Hello!  Welcome to the 2022-2023school year at Thomas County Middle!  I, along with Mrs. Carly Fox, Mrs. Tammie Melear, and Mrs. Christina Wilson will be your teachers for Reading, Math, or other Interventions in grades 5-8.  I always look forward to a new school year and helping students become better readers and math students. If you ever need to contact me, please email me at awitcher@tcjackets.net or call the school office and leave a message. Parents, plan to meet by phone or in person at least once during the school year to discuss your child's progress in the program. This is the same program that your child may have been involved in formerly called RTI, which is now MTSS-Multi Tiered System of Supports. There is more information on the GADOE website if you are interested in learning more or interested in the new Dyslexia screening that will be coming to Georgia in 2024. 

What we do:

In our classes, we will work on missing skills your child may have or grade level topics to enhance their performance in math and ELA and when necessary, their executive functioning skills such as homework planners or being more organized. They will come to our classes during their "reading" class on their schedule, which may be listed as "Connections or Interventions." It will not interfere with their exploratory schedule.

Southeast Missouri State University, Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Child Education, K-12

Experience:

Two years as Middle School MTSS Academic Interventionist

Sixteen years in Special Education, K-12

Ten years in Pre-K and Elementary Education, Pre-K-4

**Consider bringing in Kleenex, hand sanitizer and/or Lysol Wipes during Open House. I do not have a homeroom, so I don't get these supplies in my classroom normally.**
