Problem: We chose to build the easy slider for our senior challenge because we wanted them to feel more independent. It will help them get around a lot better. It also helps them become a little more independent, engaged and connected.
Research: We did research by using the internet some and also visiting a nursing home. We spent time with some of the seniors living there and asked questions. They said it was hard to get under things like tables and such with just a regular wheelchair. So we listened and watched them as they used a regular wheelchair to see how we could improve it!
Ask a Pro: We had a guest speaker come talk to us one afternoon so we could ask questions. She works at a nursing home and sees every day how seniors have to function. We also had to ask someone we knew that was a senior citizen questions. It was pretty neat getting to know these people and how they live!
Proposed Solution: We want to build a chair to help our senior citizens become more independent and live a longer life. If they can reach more things and get around better then they will be able to do it all on their own!
We designed our chair to be almost like an electric wheelchair. It is to help elderly disabled people move around easier without an actual wheelchair or walker. It also swivels so they can reach for things all around them.
1. First you have tracks, almost like train tracks on the floor. They are narrow so they don’t take up much space.
2. Then someone sits in the chair and moves along the tracks to get to where they want to go.
3. The chair also swivels at a 90 degree angle for easy access.

Team Core Values
We are a team. Everybody has to help to make the team do good
We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors. We worked many days after school and on weekends to get our work done.
We know our coaches and mentors don't have all the answers; we learn together. Our coaches give us the direction to figure stuff out.
We honor the spirit of friendly competition. Sometimes we even helped people on the Thomas County Stingers Blue team with their robot.
What we discover is more important than what we win. We learn together.
We share our experiences with others. We made this brochure and a website to share what we learned in this challenge. We got to do our skit for people at our school too.
We display Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition™ in everything we do. Even when we don't always agree we try to still work together.
We have FUN!
