Barrett Crowned Homecoming Queen

This year’s Thomas County Central High School Homecoming Court has been named and the queen has been crowned.

This year’s Miss Sprit was a tie between Lakeesha Graham and Amber Griffin.

“It is a great honor to be named Miss Spirit,” said Graham. “It not only gives me a boost of confidence, but it also shows me that I am liked by my peers. I am really blessed to be sharing these great memories with so many great friends!”

Griffin said her win “feels really great and different” because she grew up “being the very shy type.”

“Being named Miss Spirit showed me what my friends and school really think of me,” she said. “I will always remember this for the rest of my life.”

Miss Yellow Jacket is Logan Beever.

“It was a huge surprise, but overall such an honor,” she said. “It’s something that will stand out as part of my high school career whenever I look back. I’m a diehard yellow jacket so I guess the title fits me well.”

This year’s 2014-2015 Homecoming Queen is Jordan Barrett.

“After they called Logan’s name I felt my legs begin to shake and my heart was beating out of my chest,” she said. “I couldn’t stop smiling all night. My heart was overflowing with joy! This night is, and always will be, one of my greatest moments in my high school career.”

Another reason Barrett is happy to be crowned is because her mother, Deborah Taylor Barrett, was crowned a homecoming queen when she attended Central in 1986.

“It’s a great honor to be the TCCHS Homecoming Queen,” Barrett said. “It’s so cool to know your whole school would pick you to represent them. I am so thankful to my classmates and I promise to live up to the title.”

The class representatives were named earlier this month and the winners were announced Sept. 19 at the TCCHS home game against Bainbridge.

The rest of the court members also were present for the ceremony.

The rest of this year’s representatives for the 2014-2015 class were: Katie Johnson, Mikayla Fillyaw, Sydney Morgan, Emily Warr, Tessa Winbigler, and Linna Le.

Representatives for the lower grades were: freshmen, Savannah Barrett and Kordae Bowden; sophomores, Angela Cipriani and Jamiliah Johnson; and, juniors, Christina Sellers and Amber Darrisaw.
