Potter WBL Student of the Month

THOMASVILLE – Logan Potter, a Thomas County Central High School senior employed by Thomas County Schools through the Work-Based Learning program, has been named the March WBL Student of the Month.

“Potter is one super young man,” Work-Based Learning Coordinator Michelle Ausley said. “He is always checking in to make sure he has met all assignment deadlines demonstrating great responsibility. He is very much a leader, always doing his best in all subject areas, as well as his duties and responsibilities within the workplace.”

Hand-In-Hand Primary School Assistant Principal Robin Shaver, who is Potter’s supervisor, calls him “a dependable and caring young man” and said the school has “enjoyed having him” there this year.

“The young students all love ‘Mr. Logan’ and are always excited to see him,” she said. “He works daily with Coach Hanah Taylor and assists with Physical Education classes. I have enjoyed watching Logan grow and mature over his school career. I had the joy of teaching him when he was a kindergarten student 12 years ago. He is going to be a wonderful teacher one day.”

Potter is considering a career in education and said the job gives him exposure to the field.

“I enjoy my time at Hand-In-Hand as a youth apprenticeship student because it gives me the opportunity to explore and test a career field that I am greatly interested in.”

He added, being able to play with the kids reminds him “that I, myself, should take the time and go outside and enjoy the ability to play.”

Potter’s mentor, Coach Hanah Taylor, had nothing but positive words for the student.

“Words cannot describe the love that Logan has for the students at Hand-In-Hand,” she said. “He is such a pleasure to work with.  I love working with him and learning from him. He is happy to come and help any way that he can.”
