Maxwell earns WBL Student of Month

Drew Maxwell, Thomas County Central High School senior employed by Mayhaw Plantation through the Work-Based Learning program, has been named the WBL Student of the Month for September 2015.

“He has demonstrated excellent work ethics throughout his employment with Mayhaw, maintaining integrity, showing responsibility and dependability,” Work-Based Learning coordinator Michelle Ausley said.

Mayhaw Plantation’s manager Trey Mills, Maxwell’s supervisor, is impressed with Maxwell’s work performance.

“Drew is an exceptional young man who has a lot of passion for his job and the outdoors,” Mills said. “His willingness to learn and attention to the finer details will carry him far.”

Maxwell said he enjoys working at the plantation.

“The Work-Based Learning program has allowed me as a young adult the opportunity to get a head start in life,” he said. “It has also taught me patience and how to communicate with someone who may not fully understand our way of doing things.”

After graduation, Maxwell intends to enroll in college and pursue a career in wildlife management.
