Beckett named TCCHS WBL Student of the Month

Saleen Beckett, Thomas County Central High School senior employed by Thomas County Schools through the Work-Based Learning program, has been named the WBL Student of the Month for January.

“Saleen has done such an awesome job this year,” Work-Based Learning coordinator Michelle Ausley said. “She is a model student and a very special young lady. She completes all assignments that are asked of her and takes the extra mile to make the assignments shine with excellence.”

Stephanie Morris, Beckett’s supervisor at Cross Creek Elementary School, praised the student’s performance and interest in her job.

Saleen is a self-starter who interacts well with the students,” Morris said. “I love that Saleen herself will ask questions about activities, to show the students that they can learn at any age. Saleen loves to participate in ‘Fun Fridays’ with the students.”

Beckett said being part of the WBL program has made her appreciate the differences in everyone.

“I've learned that everyone deals with certain difficult aspects in life, some more than others,” she said. “Some learn differently, but all are bright and unique in their own way. This program has made me understand more about loving people for who they are and not what they have.”
