Thomas County Central High School rallied to show its enthusiasm and support of the TCCHS Yellow Jackets Football team as it prepared to take one step closer to the region championship.

On Friday, Oct. 21 the school held a pep rally to commemorate the game later that night against Bainbridge High School on the Jackets’ home turf.

“It’s an opportunity for all of our students, faculty, and administration to gather together under one roof to unite in a common cause of support and encouragement,” broadcasting teacher Randy Young, who helped organize the event, stated.

The pep rally was held in the school’s gym. TCCHS cheerleaders and band dance team members (known as “Dazzlers”) performed alongside the band throughout the event. Later, the broadcasting department showed its yearly video, which attempted to boost the football team’s morale as well as encourage game attendance.

When asked if the pep rally created positive energy about the game, student Elena Love enthused, “Yes, because more people get into the game when we have pep rallies.”

The TCCHS Softball team was recognized for its region win. Then, Young conducted a class-wide “dance battle” in the center of the gym, which was won by the junior class.

“The best part about the rally had to be the dance battle between the different grades,” junior Miyah Washington confessed.

The Jackets brought home a 17-6 victory against the Bearcats, securing them a probable spot as 2016 region champs…if they can defeat Harris County next week.
