TCCHS I.N.S.P.I.R.E. to host event Saturday

TCCHS I.N.S.P.I.R.E. Club will sponsor a Fall Festival adn Yard Sale on Saturday, November 12.

One youth group has rolled some of the best outdoor fall activities into one event for the entire family. I.N.S.P.I.R.E. club will host the first Thomas County Central High School Fall Festival and Yard Sale Extravaganza on the school’s campus, beginning 7 a.m. and running until 5 p.m. Saturday.

Activities are expected to include face painting and other family friendly fun. A community-filled yard sale will be on site, as well as approximately 10 vendors selling a variety of items and food.

“I feel as if the fall festival is a great opportunity to get the I.N.S.P.I.R.E. name out,” member James Jones, 16, said.

Sponsored by teachers Regina Beasley, Renae Moore and Louise Phillips, I.N.S.P.I.R.E. means “Illuminating, Navigating, and Successfully Propelling Ingenuity through Real Experiences.”

The festival is a fundraiser to help the club raise money for its 2017 Spring College Road Trip to Washington, D.C. to visit several colleges and universities.

“We are excited about the festival and yard sale,” sponsor Renae Moore said. “The students are working seriously to reach their goal.”

Auh’Daizah Turner, 18, got involved with I.N.S.P.I.R.E. through her time in Beasley’s Coordinated Career Academic Education, or CCAE, classes and how much she enjoyed working with the teacher.

Turner has been helping prepare for the festival by spreading the word and planning food options the club will sell to hungry festivalgoers. Ideas include nachos, hot dogs, and popcorn.

“Come out and support us in this fun festivity,” she said. “Bring your family and friends to have fun and help us raise money for our trip to Washington, D.C.”

Jones joined the club because it gives him opportunities to tour other places, to learn about colleges, and he enjoys working with the sponsoring teachers.

He has been helping to promote the festival by making flyers and calling community members to ask for their support. Jones is very excited about the event and urges everyone to check it out.

“I.N.S.P.I.R.E. is not only doing the festival for fun,” he said. “We want to bring families together and positive things to Thomasville. Please, please! Come out and support us and enjoy the day.”
