TCMS Partners with FSU on eRebuild Program

FSU3

Several Thomas County Middle School teachers and students recently partnered with the FSU E-Rebuild program to pilot an interactive game and design-based math learning program created by FSU professor, Dr. Fengfeng Ke, along with several graduate students.  Six TCMS teachers selected students to pilot the program.  The group of students and teachers met after school to “play” the game.

The program is designed for students in sixth through eighth grades, and focuses on teaching the concepts of geometry, ratios, and proportions through gameplay.   Students were actually applying skills that they have learned to complete a series of tasks.

While working on the game, students were connected to Fengfeng Ke and the graduate students through Zoom.  If students encountered a problem, they would work with the graduate students to overcome the obstacle and complete the task.  The group met together throughout the months of November and December, completing the cohort just before the winter break.
