On January 7, 2023, middle school band students from around the state converged at Union Grove Middle School in McDonough, GA for the second round of GMEA Middle School All-State Band auditions.  Of the hundreds of tuba players who went through the rigorous audition process from around the state, only fourteen students, along with two alternate positions were chosen.  Thomas County Middle School’s Carter Weiss was selected as one of those making the 2023 GMEA Middle School All-State Band.  Hudson Wynn was selected as first alternate.

The GMEA All-State Band Clinic will take place at The Classic Center in Athens, GA, on March 2 - 4, 2023, with a special concert performance on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
