Welcome to Mrs. Fannetta Powell's school based web page. I am looking forward to a rewarding and productive school year.  While I am your child's teacher, I am only one part of your child's academic future. Parent encouragement and involvement along with student cooperation and participation are vital components of educational growth. I encourage you and your child to join me on this academic endeavor.  "A child educated only at school is an uneducated child." George Santayana

Belief Statement:

It is my belief that student learning is an active process, and the teacher is the cornerstone of the educational system. I also believe that parents are equal shareholders in the educational process, and education is a collaborative effort where students, staff, administrators and parents are equally responsible for student learning.   Excellence in Education requires the input, and dedication of the teacher, student and parents... when one of the three fails to participate, the balance is thrown off and maximum results aren't met.

Educational Background:

I am a 1992 graduate of Valdosta State University. I have a B.S. in Criminal Justice, B.A. in Sociology, a teacher certification in Middle Grades Education, Master degree in Middles Grades Mathematics and Science. I have obtained an Educational Specialist degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southwestern University.

It is my goal that each student will become an active participant in the learning process.

I am excited about the 2021-2022 school year. I hold high expectations for all students. They will learn to apply their higher order thinking skills to preform mathematical operations.

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.... intelligence plus character----that is the goal of true education." Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
