Welcome to Army JROTC!

This special program is "one of the largest character development and citizenship programs for youth in the world.”  Our mission is "to motivate young people to be better citizens.”  We accomplish this through an immersive, leadership-in-action approach that challenges cadets academically, mentally, socially, and physically.

This program is one of the newest in the state of Georgia and in just a couple of years has accomplished a lot. Our competitive Drill Team has already won several Region Championships and our Raider team continues to dominate the area as the reigning Region Champion. Our 2022 JLAB team finished #8 in the Nation and #1 in the state of Georgia, earning the program our first state championship. Our Cadets are actively involved in our school's athletic teams, academic organizations, and student government. We also support numerous events across Thomas County.

Army JROTC provides students with the best opportunities to develop their leadership skills, service relationships, and physical fitness. Join the team and be part of the hottest organization around.

About me...

Prior to arriving at Thomas County Schools I was the Senior Army Instructor at Ware County High School in Waycross, GA.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Thomas College, right here in Thomasville.  I received my commission from Florida State University after completing ROTC in the Seminole Battalion.  Later, I earned my M.Ed. from the University of Georgia and a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from Air University at the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB.

My past operational assignments include Battalion Commander (1st Bn-346th Air Defense Artillery, Camp Shelby, MS), Chief of Air and Missile Defense (HQ, 3rd Infantry Division, FT Stewart, GA), Brigade Operations Officer (177th Armored Brigade, Camp Shelby, MS), Battalion Operations Officer (HHBN, 3rd Infantry Division, FT Stewart, GA), Battery Commander (Alpha Battery, 3rd Bn-2nd Air Defense Artillery, FT Bliss, TX), Platoon Leader (Delta Battery, 5th Bn-52nd Air Defense Artillery, FT Bliss, TX). I have combat and operational deployments to Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

I am married to the former Sharon Hinson of Cairo. Together we have 2 sons, 3 daughters, and 2 granddaughters.
