Thomas County Schools named Google Reference District

Google Reference District

Being named a Google Reference District not only means that the Thomas County School System has been recognized for the innovative use of technology, it also means that the system has membership in Google’s Trusted Tester program and will have the opportunity to test new Google products and programs before they hit the market.

Director of Technology for Thomas County Schools Wes Davis said, “It's inspiring to see how quickly our teachers and students have embraced the technology we have deployed to them in the last three years. We are fortunate they've recognized the value of G Suite and other applications in the classroom and put them to good use on a daily basis.”

“Being recognized as a Google Reference District is a wonderful honor and opportunity for our system,” Dr. Lisa Williams, Thomas County Schools Superintendent said. “It demonstrates that not only have we implemented a robust 1:1 technology device program in our district, but also we have fundamentally altered the culture of our system by creating a professional learning community where effective communication, collaboration, and innovation in learning has become the norm for all involved.”

Google for Education Reference Districts are districts that demonstrate excellence and thought leadership through the innovative use of technology, including G Suite for Education (formerly known as Google Apps for Education) and Chromebooks, to drive impact and positive learning outcomes.
