Meet Mrs. Rebecca Kent

Mrs. Rebecca Kent

How many years have you been teaching or worked in education?

I have worked in education for four years. My first year was spent substituting at various schools throughout the system. For the last three years I worked at Hand in Hand Primary as a paraprofessional.

How many of your years have been spent at Garrison-Pilcher?

I am so excited to start my first year as a teacher at Garrison-Pilcher!

What grade levels have you taught or worked with?

I have worked with kindergarten and second grade.

What college did you attend?

I attended Valdosta State University for my undergraduate degree and Walden University for my Master of Arts in Education.

My best day in the classroom was when....

I got to meet my students for the first time. It was so exciting to see their personalities and enthusiasm for learning on the first day.

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher or to work in education?

My mom is my inspiration for becoming a teacher. She is the most fun, dedicated, inspirational, and loving teacher that a student can have. She cares about each of her students as if they were her own children and I hope to have the same type of influence on my students' lives that she has had on hers.

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?

My sister and I have always joked about opening up a bakery/bookstore. I love love love to bake (and eat) and we both enjoy reading. I can't think of many things that are more relaxing than baking and reading.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love to spend time with my family! Most of my spare time is spent holding my beautiful baby girl who loves to snuggle and laugh.
