Dechman named instructional coordinator at Bishop Hall

Michele Dechman

Thomas County School Superintendent Dr. Lisa Williams has appointed Michele Dechman instructional coordinator of Bishop Hall Charter School.

Dechman joined the faculty of Thomas County Schools in 1999 where she has taught elementary education, special education, gifted education, and computer coding.  She earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University and an educational specialist degree from Valdosta State University.

As instructional coordinator, Dechman will assist Principal Chris Huckans in supervising the overall instructional program at Bishop Hall Charter School and will serve as a liaison between the school district’s curriculum department and the administration and faculty of Bishop Hall to ensure that the charter school’s instructional program is implemented consistently and with fidelity.

She will also lead the faculty in developing curriculum and programs to prepare students for college admission and military entrance testing. She will report monthly to the Bishop Hall Board of Directors on the implementation of strategies to meet the 2019 charter renewal goals.

"The academic success of our students has always been of the utmost importance," Bishop Hall Principal Chris Huckans said. "The addition of Mrs. Dechman as instructional coordinator gives our school an additional faculty member to provide support to our teachers and students. Her past experience and success in a variety of positions will greatly enhance our ability to provide a strong educational experience for each of our students.”

Regarding her appointment, Dechman commented, “I am excited to join the faculty and staff at Bishop Hall as the Instructional Coordinator. Throughout my years of employment with Thomas County Schools, I have had the opportunity to teach different grade levels and work with a diverse group of learners. I believe in the saying, ‘What we learn becomes part of who we are.’ The learning, teaching, and leadership experiences I have been part of at Thomas County Schools shaped who I am today. I feel that my experiences and personality will be an asset to the Bishop Hall Charter School family.  I look forward to working with the teachers and students to help increase academic achievement throughout the year.”

Dechman is available to meet with parents of Bishop Hall students. She may be reached at mdechman@tcjackets.net or by phone at 229-227-1397.
