The Thomas County School System announced recent staff promotions and title changes following approval at the February regular board meeting.

Both Dr. Jim Rehberg and Lindsay Thompson are moving from Thomas County Central High School to the district office.

Rehberg is now serving as the Director of Facilities and Operations. Rehberg, who holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership, spent the previous 10 years as a district and school administrator at Thomas County Central High School where he was in charge of testing, academic recognition, and facilities. Prior to that, he worked as a media specialist serving the entire student body and faculty of TCCHS after teaching English literature and computer science.

"There is a direct correlation between a warm, welcoming, and secure atmosphere and student achievement,” Dr. Rehberg said. “The facilities at Thomas County Schools are among the best, and it is a privilege to work alongside the men and women responsible for ensuring our buildings remain a place where all students are safe and happy. We are always looking for ways to make what we have better. I look forward to facilitating the best environment possible for the students of Thomas County Schools."

Rehberg, a 1990 graduate of then Central High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at University of Georgia before completing his graduate work at Valdosta State University.

Rehberg added, "I am very happy to be a part of the school system I am a product of, and I hope my work here inspires other students to return as well."

Thompson was promoted to the school system’s Director of Digital Learning and Media Services. Thompson comes to the board office after serving as the Digital Learning Specialist at TCCHS for six years. Prior to going to the high school, she taught math at Thomas County Middle School for 10 years.

Thompson said, "I look forward to supporting the students and teachers of Thomas County Schools in a new role as we continue to innovate with digital learning resources."

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management, Master of Middle Grades Education, and will soon graduate with a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership.

Robin Binion has been named assistant principal at Garrison-Pilcher. She moved out of her first grade classroom to serve in her new capacity. Binion served as an elementary school teacher in Tift County for five years, in Colquitt County for five years, and she joined the Thomas County School System in 2019.

“I am super excited to be a part of Garrison Pilcher,” Binion said. “It is such a great school, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve as assistant principal. It is truly a great feeling to wake up every morning knowing that I get to do what I love each day for such a wonderful and caring system.”

Binion holds a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education, Master’s and Specialist degrees in curriculum and instruction, and is certified in leadership.

Erin Rehberg and Levi Williams have both moved to Thomas County Central to serve as assistant principals.

Rehberg joins the administrative team at the high school after serving as the system’s Director of Digital Learning and Media Services. She gained years of experience preparing for that role by serving as the Instructional Technology Coordinator and a media specialist for Thomas County Middle School. Rehberg also served as an English teacher at TCCHS for seven years immediately following graduation from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as an assistant principal at Thomas County Central High School,” Rehberg said. “It feels like coming home after having started my career here in 2005. My previous role as Director of Digital Learning allowed me the chance to observe in other high schools in our area, and I now know what I have always felt to be true --- TCCHS is a special and unique place. I look forward to supporting our students and teachers as a part of the TCCHS administrative team.”

Rehberg also holds a Master of Education in Instructional Technology, an Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology and will graduate with her Doctorate in Educational Leadership in May.

Levi Williams has been named assistant principal at TCCHS after serving as assistant principal at Thomas County Middle School for the past year.

Williams served as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at TCCHS for four years. Prior to working at the high school, he spent six years as Area Superintendent for the Catapult Academies where he established and ran schools in Albany, Columbus, Bainbridge, and Thomasville, Georgia. He also served as the chief financial officer for Thomasville City Schools.

“I am thrilled to start this new adventure and opportunity at the high school under the leadership of Jamie Thompson,” Williams said. “At the same time it hurts to leave so many great teachers and awesome kids at TCMS. I want to thank the Admin team, teachers, students, and a special thanks to Mr. Clay Stanaland for giving me this opportunity at TCMS.”

Williams holds a bachelor's degree mechanical engineering from Savannah State University, a Masters Degree of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in Atlanta, and will soon complete his leadership certification.

Superintendent Dr. Lisa Williams stated, “I want to congratulate these individuals for their accomplishments and thank them for their hard work and dedication to our school system’s mission. They are all excellent leaders who will excel in their new positions and continue to help our system flourish.”
