Thomas County Middle School students recently had a chance to compete at the Regional Science Fair held at ABAC.  Eight students from TCMS have advanced to the State Science Fair competition.  

Qualifying students include Laura Hiers, Claire Pope, Taylor Stegall, and Ethan Nicoll (sixth grade); Kaleb Smith (seventh grade); and Emma Goff (eighth grade).  

Goff’s project was titled “The Science of Pie Crusts” and was part of the Chemistry division.  She said, “I really like cooking, so learning more about the science behind it was really fun for me.”

Smith studied the strength of iPhone batteries in his project titled, “Technology: The Source of our World.”  He said, “My project had a connection to everyday life, so I knew I could actually use what I learned in my science fair research.”

Students will compete in the State Science Fair in Athens, Georgia at the end of March.
