Envision Credit Union recently awarded Amanda West, sixth-grade teacher at Thomas County Middle School, with a $500 classroom grant.  She was awarded the grant based on her community impact.

West is in charge of organizing service learning for TCMS MERIT students and coordinates activities where students are able to access volunteer opportunities within the community.  The award was actually presented to West while she was volunteering at Second Harvest through Hands on Thomas County. 

West plans to use the money from the grant to help deter the cost of student field trips, as well as to obtain literacy resources including novels and primary sources for students to use in the classroom.
