On February 11, and 12, band students from Thomas County Middle School traveled to ABAC in Tifton, Georgia, to participate in the District 2 Middle School Honor Band Clinic. Of the 90 seventh and eighth grade students representing 14 different middle schools across Southwest Georgia, more than half (50) were from Thomas County Middle School.

“The District Honor Band clinic consists of between eight and nine hours of intense rehearsals which culminate in a concert performance on the final day," said TCMS Band Director William Majors. "This year, our middle school students worked with teacher and composer, Dr. Andrew Poor, from South Forsyth Middle School in Cumming, GA. The band performed four selections including two of Dr. Poor’s compositions."

Majors added, “TCMS had a record number of students make District Honor Band this year. We are very proud of these kids and are glad they had this opportunity to further develop their musical skills and perform with other outstanding students from around Southwest Georgia.”
