Thirteen TCCHS musicians earn seats on GMEA District 2 Jazz Ensemble

Thomas County Central High School Band students auditioned for the Georgia Music Educators Association District 2 Jazz Ensemble Monday, Oct. 3. Students from across Southwest Georgia had the opportunity to try out. Of the 21 selected, more than half of the ensemble’s seats – 13 – feature a TCCHS youth musician.

TCCHS students chosen include Ayden Webb (first chair, alto saxophone), Walker Cobb (first chair, tenor saxophone), Jesus Altamirano (tenor saxophone), Teddy Cone (first chair, trumpet), Arwen Hancock (trumpet), Matt Bradley (trumpet), James Butler (trombone), Jenna Coaker (trombone), Tyler Laidman (bass trombone), Tessa Thomas (first chair, vibraphone), Morgan Loper (first chair, piano), Rebekah Horton (first chair, bass guitar), and Keaton Stephens (drums).

These students will travel to Tifton in early 2023 to join the rest of the ensemble for rehearsals and a performance Feb. 9-10 at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
