MEET THE TEACHER

MS. GASTON

 

INTRODUCTION

My name is Katie Gaston. I am excited to welcome you the the TCCHS Dance Program.

 

ALL ABOUT ME

Ms. Gaston has studied ballet, pointe, jazz, and lyrical dance styles for twenty seven years. She began her training under the direction of Lovedy Griner at Rose City Ballet in Thomasville, Ga. She has also trained under German dancer Beatrice Corbin. Katie was a TCCHS Dazzler all four years of high school and Captain her senior year under the direction of Lynn Wise. Before graduation high school, Katie attended the University of Georgia Summer Dance Camp. Ms. Gaston began teaching at the age of 18 at the Colquitt County Fine Arts Center in Moultrie, GA and Rose City Ballet. She trained dancers from ages two and up in all genres of dance. This also included choreography for dance recitals. She has performed various roles such as Countess Coral in the ballet Clue, The Stepmother in Cinderella, Elsa in Frozen Fantasy, a sister in I'll be Home for Christmas, as well as many other roles. Ms. Gaston was given the honor of opening for the world renown Christian Ballet Company, Ballet Magnificat. Her teaching experience includes: the Colquitt County Fine Arts Center in Moultrie, GA, Rose City Ballet in Thomasville, GA, Thomas County Middle School, and Thomas County Central High School. Katie has a bachelors of arts degree from Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. Ms. Gaston has danced with Rose City Ballet (Thomasville), Wildwood Ballet (Tallahassee), and is currently dancing with Pas de Vie (Tallahassee). She has a passion for dancing, teaching, and creating new choreography. Her desire is to continue training and to cultivate aspiring dancers of all ages in the importance of movement and encourage them to dance after high school.
