Course Description

Class instruction will focus on not only the dance and choreography standards, but it will also focus on the physical fitness aspect of dance and dance standards. This means that we will take class outdoors as much as possible. Additionally, we will train indoors to stretch and complete strength conditioning exercises through teacher led Yoga and Pilates.

The dance room has 24 6x6 squares to ensure that each student is socially distanced. Since guidelines no longer prohibit the use of locker rooms, students will be given an assigned locker in which they are to place their belongings. There is also a designated area in the classroom where students will keep their cell phones.

In addition to locker space for student belongings, students will also have a designated, numbered cubby in which they may store small items. Student cubby numbers will correspond to their assigned, numbered space in the room. This number will be the student’s number throughout the duration of the nine weeks period.

Students will need to wear appropriate, nonrestrictive clothing, including footwear to dance class. This clothing should be clothing that allows for movement and is appropriate for working out and the outdoor climate as long as it is not raining. Students will also need athletic footwear as a requirement of the class. Last, if class instruction includes floor work, students will need to bring their own Yoga mat. These mats can be purchased rather inexpensively at local retail stores.
