This course focuses on a study of literary genres; the students develop initial understanding of both the structure and the meaning of a literary work. The students will read regularly, in class and at home, to develop academic and personal interests. The student will demonstrate competency in a variety of writing genres: narrative, expository, persuasive, and technical. The students will engage in research, timed writings, and the writing process. The students demonstrate an understanding of listening, speaking, and viewing skills for a variety of purposes. 

Our class Remind 101 info is visible below.  I strongly recommend that students and parents alike sign up for our class Remind using a cell phone, so deadline memos and announcements come right to you.  ALL other information, documents, and copies of assignments can be found on Google Classroom. Students will be required to sign up for our Classroom using the class code given on the first day.   Parents with e-mail addresses on file will receive an invitation to join Google Classroom, which will send daily or weekly (your choice) messages regarding missing work, etc.
