King Named Teacher of the Year

TOTY 2020

Daphney King, a fourth-grade teacher at Cross Creek Elementary School, was recently named the school's Teacher of the Year.  After teaching first grade for 14 years at Garrison-Pilcher Elementary, King transitioned to Cross Creek where she has served for two years.

Jamie Thompson, principal of Cross Creek, said, "Ms. King is a consummate team player who goes beyond what is required to benefit not only her students, but all of the students who attend Cross Creek Elementary."

King holds a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Thomas University and is also a Google, Clever, and FlipGrid certified educator along with being a SeeSaw Ambassador.

Cross Creek Assistant Principal Amy Robinson said that King's students are "always engaged in learning."

"King's instructional techniques allow her to support students as they take ownership in their learning," Robinson said.  "She is always willing to help with any task or create any resource that is needed for teachers or students."

During her first year at Cross Creek, she was selected as the school's and then the system's Digital learning All Star Teacher.

Thompson added, "Cross Creek is an awesome school because we have awesome teachers.  Ms. King is a great example of a teacher who works to benefit the teachers around her."
