Live at the Hive

To recognize the hard work that the winter and spring student athletes put in, the Thomas County Central High School Booster Club will be sponsoring an event to honor these athletes.

TCCHS will be hosting “Live at the Hive” at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb 11. The event will be held at the TCCHS baseball field during the baseball team’s season opening scrimmage against Berrien County.

“Live at the Hive is an event that will highlight the winter and spring student athletes at TCCHS,” Kyle Shaver, TCCHS Booster Club president said. “We wanted to be able to generate some excitement for the upcoming seasons and recognize the student athletes that participate.”

The event will recognize all winter and spring student athletes. This will be the second booster club event held this school year, the first being “Night at the Nest” which was held last fall.

“We believe it is important to recognize our athletes because involvement in extracurricular activities plays a big part in success in school,” TCCHS Principal Trista Jones said. “Balancing school and athletics is quite an accomplishment for any young person.”

The event is also serving as a special fundraiser. Admission is the purchase of a $5 game ticket, Shaver said, and all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the American Heart Association. Other monetary donations also will be graciously accepted.

“This is a positive event because we can showcase our athletes who are living heart healthy lifestyles,” Jones said.

People who attend the event will have the opportunity to take pictures with the school mascot “Buzz,” meet student athletes, and purchase TCCHS spirit wear.

In addition, local medical professionals will be there to provide information on heart health, and local vendors will be selling food items.

“We hope that it will be a fun event where students and community members can come together,” Jones said.
