Thomas named WBL Student of the Month for February

Brianna Thomas, a Thomas County Central High School senior employed by Flowers Foods through the Work-Based Learning program, has been named the WBL Student of the Month for February 2016.

“She has demonstrated excellent work ethics throughout her employment with Flowers Foods maintaining integrity, dependability, motivation, and showing a tremendous amount of responsibility,” Thomas’s Work-Based Learning coordinator, Michelle Ausley, said.

Peggy Clark, Thomas’s manager, said Brianna is a very respectful young lady, who always has a smile on her face and who has done a great job.

The student’s supervisor, Sandra Stafford, also has praise for Thomas.

“Brianna is a joy to work with,” Stafford said. “She always presents herself in a professional manner.  Whatever I ask her to help me with; she does not hesitate to say yes. Brianna is a very quiet, respectful young lady that always greets you with a smile. Her maturity level is that of a college student. There is no one more deserving of an award than her.”

Thomas said her job at Flowers Foods has taught her that “teamwork is vital for any business to succeed.” She’s also grateful to have the opportunity to participate in the WBL program.

“I am grateful that Work-Based Learning has helped me begin pursuing my goals by assisting me with a job at Flowers,” she said. “Work-Based Learning has taught me that anything is possible with effort and persistence. The program has also shown me the responsibilities that come with a job.”

After graduation, Thomas plans to attend Southern Regional Technical College for her core classes and then transfer to Georgia State University.

“I will peruse a dietitian degree with a minor in business management,” she said.
