The Thomas County Middle School Science Fair was held on December 2. More than 200 projects were entered by 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Winners will compete in the Region Science Fair at ABAC on February 10, 2017. 

In Chemistry, Luke Pierce earned honorable mentions.  Garrett Mims earned third place. Jackson Emmett won second place and Morgan Ward placed first.

In Physics/Astronomy, Cason Dennard received an Honorable Mention.  Caleb Kinneer placed third. Jace Knapp earned second place and Laura Hiers won first place.  Laura Hiers also won the Overall Physical Science Division Award.

In Engineering, Able Gipson and Jackson Singletary received Honorable Mention. Leara Jones earned third place. Bradley Dechman won second place and Ayden Webb won first place.

In Animal Science, Holly Green earned third place honors. Second place went to Kaylee Ingram and first place went to Molly Grace White.  Molly Grace White also won the Overall Life Science Division Award.

In Plant Science, Sarah Edgerton and Randy Sowell earned Honorable Mentions. Third place went to Julianna McCabe. Elizabeth Stolarik earned second place while first place went to Trace Morales.

 In Environmental Science, third place went to Emily Sinclair. Caden Reagan placed second and Georgia Rose Patton won first.

In Medicine and Health, Bryan Williams earned Honorable Mention.  Third place went to Jenaya Tyler. Chandler Lane won second place and Bishop Jackson placed first.

In Behavioral & Social Science, Britney White earned Honorable Mention.  Campbell Smith earned third place and Ben Taylor placed second. The first place winner for the category was Danielle Sauls.

The Overall TCMS Science Fair winner earns the Jackie Winchester Award. This award, donated by Sunnie Wynn, honors the late Mrs. Jackie Winchester who taught for over 40 years and was a great advocate of the Science Fair. This year’s winner of the Jackie Winchester Award was Laura Hiers.
