New Course Being Offered at TCMS

Girls' Conditioning Class

Hello, my name is Coach Anderson and I’m very excited about starting out a new chapter of my teaching career at Thomas County Middle School. My parents are retired educators of the Thomas County School System and they raised me up as a Yellow Jacket. My experience as a Lady Jacket includes: 6 years of Cheerleading (captain), Track & Field, Miss Personality, Senior Superlative, and TCCHS Homecoming Queen ‘96. Currently I hold a Bachelors and Masters in Health and Physical Education from Albany State University. I honorably bring 12 years of teaching/coaching experience (health, physical education, cheerleading, & track/field) to empower our middle school ladies to be the best athletes ever. My class is entitled Girls’ Conditioning and this is the first year of implementation. Indeed, this program is geared up by the school’s mission statement: Thomas County Middle School provides a unique, high quality education as a bridge from elementary to high school and beyond. Therefore my ultimate goal is to condition these young ladies into elite high school athletes! At TCMS, we are embarking on a new legacy of Lady Jacket Power!

Course Description: Welcome to Girls' Conditioning Class! The purpose of this course is to teach a wide range of exercises and exercise theory to achieve a wide variety of fitness goals. TCMS Girls' Conditioning Class uses these exercises and knowledge on a daily basis to improve our personal fitness. These ladies are prepared to learn and work hard every single day. The class is intense at times but the girls know that they will become more physically fit as a result of the hard work practiced in class. P.E. is generally fun, but this class is real work. In addition to learning exercises and exercise theory, the TCMS Lady Jackets learn about goal setting, major muscle groups, stretching, injury prevention, nutrition, and how to continue your fitness activities after and beyond this class.

We will use the following techniques (as well as others) to improve fitness: Lady Jacket Boot Camp• Weight training • Core Exercises • Running • Circuit Training• Yoga Techniques • Plyometrics • Aerobics • Stretching
