FFA Brings Home the Gold... Twice!

FFA

TCMS FFA recently competed in the Livestock Evaluation and Environmental Natural Resources Career Development Events on the area level. Both teams placed first in their respective competitions and will advance to the state contests.

The Environmental Natural Resources team had to complete a GPS course, translate scientific names of trees, and identify 50 wildlife and natural resource specimens. The Environmental Natural Resources team included Samantha Bustle, R. J. Dukes (7th High Individual), Ashley Brannen (3rd High Individual), and Taylor Stegall (2nd High Individual). These students will compete for the state title in this month.

The Livestock Evaluation team included Rayne Gipson, Cody Johnson, EmmaRae Smith, and Bryan Williams (5th High Individual). These students evaluated six classes of livestock to determine the rank of quality for breeding and market characteristics based on the species. In addition, they had to present a set of oral reasons for a selected class. The Livestock Evaluation team will compete on the state level in March.
