The Thomas County Middle School Science Olympiad Team traveled to South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia on Saturday, February 9 to compete in a region tournament. Science Olympiad is a team competition in which individuals can win medals that apply towards an overall team score. Students compete in teams of two in twenty three different events from all areas of Science and Engineering. The team came home with one first place medal, two second place medals, two third place medals and three fourth place medals. Team members include Conner McCardel, Austin Kelley, Mattie Waters, Shea Singletary, Olivia Osgatharp, Matt West, Mia Carroll, Logan Long, Tiara Shimkus, Brock Reid, Chandler Watson, Megan Hornsby, Maria Davis, Kari Flower, Amber Adams, Loren Osgatharp, Kiersten Dillard, Owen Watson, Jeremy Simmons, and Alan Brinn.
