5th Grade MERIT Students Learn on Field Trips
Students from Thomas County Upper Elementary Fifth Grade MERIT extended their classroom learning by visiting the Andersonville National Historic Site and Prisoner of War Museum.  While there, the students enjoyed a tour of the prison site and learned about the hardships of the Civil War prisoners held there.

Fifth Grade MERIT students also recently visited the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida.  They toured areas of the lab that house the strongest electromagnet in the world.  Scientists from around the world conduct experiments at this facility.  While there, students worked with a scientist and explored the properties of inquiry and observation.
