Thomas County first and second graders at Garrison-Pilcher Elementary School created stamps, poster, and banner to win top honors in the Georgia, Southeastern United States, and United States Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Junior Citizens Contest themed: “The 200th Anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail:  Moving Stars and Stripes Westward.”

First grade state-level 1st place winners in the banner category are:  Violet Mares, Wayland Gainey, Everly Greene, Leyla Rodriguez, Syd Hamm, and Sam Kantner.

First grade state-level winners are:  Wayland Gainey (2nd place stamp) and Cannon Creech (3rd place stamp).

Camden Wood's stamp created with the theme “The 200th Anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail:  Moving Stars and Stripes Westward” won 1st place at the local, state, regional, and at the national levels of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Junior Citizens Contest.
