Honor Graduate Luncheon

Thomas County Central High School recognized its honor graduates for the Class of 2015 with an annual Honors Luncheon, held Thursday, May 14, in the school's conference room.

"We always want to do something special for kids who excel academically," Dr. Jim Rehberg, director of gifted and accelerated instruction, said. "It takes a lot to be an honor grad. It's nice to step back a minute and recognize all the hard work."

The TCCHS Class of 2015 has 32 honor graduates. To be an honor grad, students must maintain a 93 average with no rounding. The average does not count their last semester of high school.

"It's such an honor being an honor grad," participant Logan Potter said.  "It's a reward for all of the hard work over the past four years of high school."

No parents were involved in the luncheon, only students and administrators.

The luncheon was catered by Barberitos.

Participant Katie Johnson said it was "so fun getting together with everyone and celebrating (their) accomplishments."

Classmate Daezha Brooks agreed.

"Attending the luncheon was a great way for me to connect with my classmates through conversation," Brooks said. "I enjoyed getting a chance to interact with those I haven't seen in a while, as well as hearing their future plans."
