TCCHS seeks vendors for Career Fair

Thomas County Central High School is seeking vendor participants for its upcoming Career Fair.

This year’s fair will take place Feb. 14, 2019. The theme will be “We Love Our Careers.” The event occurs every other year.

“Career Fair is not for students to apply for jobs but is a resource for gathering information about potential career opportunities,” TCCHS Work-Based Learning Coordinator Brandi Miranda said. “We want students to be provided with information that will help them as they plan for the future. This is a time for employers to share with students the types of post-secondary or on the job training required to be successful in their field.”

Fair participation aims toward businesses, local colleges and other organizations that offer career opportunities to high school students.

“We normally have a wide range of booths at this event,” Miranda said. “We have industries, colleges, technical schools and military booths.”

Beth Adams, TCCHS Career, Technical and Agricultural Education director says one of the CTAE program’s goals is to ensure students are ready for whatever post-high school option best fits their needs, be it college or joining the workforce or both at once.

“While we get great input from our local advisory members about the skills our students need to be successful, many students don't know about the wide range of career possibilities available in our area,” Adams said. “Events like Career Fair give students the chance to connect their career goals with local businesses and industries in our communities.”

Approximately 50 spots are available. Anyone interested in being part of the fair should contact Brandi Miranda by phone at (229) 225-5050 ext. 192 or email bmiranda@tcjackets.net.
