National Mathfest Competition

TCMS MERIT

Fifteen Thomas County Middle School MERIT Math scholars worked their way to the National Mathfest Competition along with 300 other middle school students from across the country. The competition was recently held in Birmingham, Alabama where students were asked to work rigorous math problems with a tight time constraint. Two TCMS students earned the distinction of placing in the top 20; 5th grader Charlie Dunbar and 6th grader Hayden Groom. Another 6th grader, Cam Jones, made it all of the way to the top ten! All three students received special recognition and a National Championship t-shirt for this honor.
