October 4, 2021 – Thomasville, GA – Thomas County Middle School seventh grade EIP science and math teacher Melissa Artz has been nominated for the 2021-2022 national LifeChanger of the Year award. Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.

Artz was nominated by a family member, Julie Warr, for going above and beyond in her dedication to her community, school environment, and professional development. She strives to excel in any activity that is given to her, whether it's providing students with a place that is safe and caring, or giving them a challenge and pushing them to become the best individuals in their communities.

Artz also stays involved outside of the classroom. She sponsors the ASL club, student council, and after-school Bee Smart tutoring. Additionally, she volunteers with many community activities that keep her busy with her family, as well as many of her students.

“Mrs. Artz continues to instill in her students to constantly strive to be the most wonderful person they can be,” said Warr. “That is why so many of her students come back to see her every year.”
